For example, our current research uses a high-resolution rainfall dataset to help us better understand how increased frequency of heavy rainfall events could impact traffic flow. Our research uses systems modeling to aid policymakers in making more informed infrastructure and policy decisions so that we have a smoother transition to connected and automated transportation. Increased frequency of natural disasters and heavy rain events impact the reliability of our transportation system.
