Automation

Automated vehicles could very well be on our streets and highways within the next 10 years. Our research uses systems modeling to aid policymakers in making more informed infrastructure and policy decisions so that we have a smoother transition to connected and automated transportation. Our 2016 paper estimated an upper bound in travel for historically underserved populations in a fully connected and automated vehicle environment.

Resilience

A reliable transportation system is critical to the movement of people and goods. Increased frequency of natural disasters and heavy rain events impact the reliability of our transportation system. Using high-resolution climate information and statistical modeling, our group assesses how to improve active management of the transportation system under a changing climate.
